Families’ terror as gun yobs aged just 12 run amok
GANGS of 12- year- old thugs are terror ising a community by shooting at each other and targeting family homes and cars.
They even shot at one woman who confronted them.
Families facing the reign of terror on Sheffield’s High Green estate say they are being held to ransom by the marauding yobs, seemingly little more than 12- years- old.
CCTV footage shows the schoolboys blatantly carrying air rifles and other air guns and openly firing at properties, cars and each other.
A mother- of- three, who asked not to be named, released appalling video evidence saying she has been left “terrified”.
She added: “Something needs to be done about these gangs. They are putting pellets through windows and cars and it is only a matter of time before somebody is hurt.
“They have intimidated, threatened and terrorised people for too long.”
Angry residents complained that beleaguered police have failed to rein in the out- of- control youths. One asked: “Why don’t the police patrol the area and crack down on these gangs?”
South Yorkshire Police, which has been attacked for chronic failings over child sexual exploitation in Rotherham and Sheffield, admitted it was “concerned” by the footage.
A spokesman said: “We take reports of firearms and gun crime incredibly seriously.”
He urged residents to report incidents and said officers would be investigating the footage.
Local people have now demanded a meeting with police representatives and council officials.
A spokesman for the local Angram Bank residents’ association said: “Our community is entitled to live free of fear, intimi dation or damage and loss.
“The few who are committing these offences should not hold the estate to ransom.”
