Drowned Britons were dentists
TWO holiday Britons who drowned in a crystal clear lagoon in Malta were yesterday named as partners in a dental practice.
Local police said Dr Mohammed Kamran Shabir and Dr Lyace Ali, both 35, got into difficulties swimming off the tiny island of Comino on Saturday.
Hussain Ahmed, a third partner at the Sheldon Dental Practice in Birmingham, also got into trouble but survived.
Qumar Zamen, whose hardware shop is opposite the practice, said: “Everybody knew them and they were well liked. It is very sad.”
Dr Ali, who also owned two dental practices in Scotland, leaves a wife and three children.
Witnesses said the men were 30 yards off the beach when they started shouting for help. Locals have warned of dangerous currents.
