Matt perfect for Top Gear

WHILE the new Top Gear presenting line- up has caused much controversy actor Stephen Mangan feels former Friends star Matt LeBlanc is the ideal choice.

“If anyone was born to do that show it is Matt,” says Stephen. “He really does know his cars inside out. And he also did the fastest celebrity lap in the show’s history, giving a comedy routine as he went round, and being really funny. So it’s the perfect fit.”

The pair have remained firm friends since first co- starring in sitcom Episodes in 2011, where Stephen and actress Tamsin Greig play a husband and wife comedy writing team who travel to Hollywood to remake their series.

Stephen, inset, still struggles to get to grips with US positivity, adding to Radio Times: “If you go for a meeting with American TV executives and they say you’re amazing, you better say ‘ Yes, I am indeed amazing’.

“You better agree with them, otherwise they’re thinking, ‘ Why are we talking to you, then?’ “It doesn’t sit terribly well with the British temperament but I’m learning.”
