- Ian Baker

ANDRE GRAY was the Burnley hero again last night as he grabbed his 22nd goal of the season to complete a dramatic turnaround for the Championship leaders.

The Clarets were staring a fi rst league defeat of 2016 in the face after trailing 2- 1 at the break to an inspired Fulham.

Sam Vokes gave Burnley the lead but Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele

responded for Slavisa Jokanovic’s strugglers.

But Vokes’ penalty levelled matters before Gray scored a stunner to further pay back some of the £ 7million Burnley paid Brentford for his services and move Sean Dyche’s men four points clear of promotion rivals Middlesbrough. With the division’s highest- scoring teams up against each other, this game was always going to have goals – and it certainly did not disappoint.

Wales striker Vokes gave Burnley a ninthminute lead when he headed home Scott Arfi eld’s corner and at that stage you wondered just how many the Clarets would manage. But Fulham responded in style to make a mockery of their league position.

Dembele set up McCormack after 17 minutes and seven minutes later the former chested home Luke Garbutt’s cross.

Tom Heaton kept Burnley in it with a wonder save just before the break to deny Tom Cairney and it proved to be a vital moment.

Vokes scored his 12th of the season four minutes after the restart after Cairney upended Joey Barton.

And Burnley showed the spirit of champions as Gray conjured up a magnifi cent winner out of nowhere, holding off Michael Madl before powering home from 20 yards to leave Fulham stunned.
