MY SIX BEST ALBUMS

- CAROLINE REES

COMEDIAN and impressionist Bobby Davro, 57, had his own Saturday night TV shows in the 1980s such as Bobby Davro On The Box. He appeared on sketch show Copy Cats, hosted Winner Takes All and appears regularly in pantomime. He tours from May 17. See ticketmaster.com for details. GILBERT O’SULLIVAN: Himself (Union Square) My hero and a great friend. I got his album for Christmas when I was 14 and I have everything he has done since.

His music has been the soundtrack to my life. I love the melodic style. Nothing Rhymed, from this, is terrific. ELTON JOHN: Too Low For Zero (Virgin EMI) I’m a big singer-songwriter fan and this includes one of my favourite Elton songs, Cold As Christmas.

It reminds me of doing summer shows in Torquay, chasing all the girl dancers without a care in the world. PAUL ANKA: Anka (Deleted) A wonderful 1970s LP that includes (You’re) Having My Baby. He’s one of the best entertainers I’ve ever seen.

We met once and I didn’t like him that much but his performance was a genuine masterclass. NEIL SEDAKA: Emergence/ Solitaire (BGO) I played Solitaire over and over. He came on my show Rock With Laughter and was such a nice man. My girlfriend and I went to his suite at the Savoy, sat around the piano with a bottle of champagne and sang his hits with him. It was one of the most magical nights of my life. JOHN BARRY: The Beyondness Of Things (Decca) His music is breathtaking. Cliff Richard, who is a mate of mine – name-dropper that I am – invited me and my then wife on a cruise around the Mediterranean. We parked up, there was apple blossom in the air and they played Barry’s Give Me A Smile. It’s a beautiful piece of music. SKY: Sky (Sanctuary) An instrumental album featuring John Williams that reminds me of when I started in showbusiness, doing stag nights around London and learning my trade.

I played this over and over in the car when I was travelling.
