Sir Tim, 71, splits from his 33-year-old pregnant lover

SIR Tim Rice has split from his pregnant lover following a secret romance.

Last week the 71-year-old composer was revealed to be about to become a father for the fourth time after a relationship with Dr Laura-Jane Foley.

But it has now emerged that the couple separated soon after Dr Foley, 33, fell pregnant.

Sir Tim, who became famous for his lyrics to rock musicals, has not commented. However, it has been reported he said privately: “I can’t go on having babies, this is going to bankrupt me.”

Playwright and art historian Dr Foley spoke of her “distress” at the end of the romance.

She said yesterday: “I became pregnant in January and the relationship ended at the end of February. The baby is due in October.

“Despite my natural distress at the ending of the relationship, I am looking forward to being a mummy to my already much-loved child.

“I will make no further comment on this private matter.”

As well as his hit musicals, Sir Tim made his £150million fortune from Oscar-winning songs.

He already has two grown-up children with his estranged wife Jane, from whom he separated in 1990 after an affair with Evita star Elaine Paige. He also has a 16-yearold daughter by artist Nell Sully.

Sir Tim’s latest romance started last year when he exchanged flirtatious messages with Dr Foley.

The pair are understood to have met more than a decade ago but were re-introduced by friends.

Dr Foley wrote the play An Evening With Lucian Freud, which starred Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas. The play is loosely based on when, as a student, Dr Foley posed for the artist, then in his 80s.
