TV star Amy and boxer Audley join fight for MasterChef title
SINGER Sinitta and former The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs are among those set to show their kitchen skills in next month’s new series of Celebrity MasterChef.
The 20 contestants in the 11th series of the BBC One show hope to follow in the footsteps of last year’s champion, Pussycat Dolls singer Kimberly Wyatt.
The line-up includes Olympic gold medal-winning boxer Audley Harrison, US pop legend Jimmy Osmond, Strictly pro dancer Gleb Savchenko and former Blue singer Simon Webbe.
Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace will again be putting the contestants through their paces.
BBC executive producer CarlaMaria Lawson said: “This year’s celebrities come from an incredibly mixed range of backgrounds and the diversity of their life experiences is reflected in their food.
“It’s one of the most passionate groups we’ve had on MasterChef.”
The date of the first episode has not been revealed but 12 are planned over six weeks.
Each week will see five celebrities preparing dishes for a top chef in a professional restaurant kitchen. They then head to the MasterChef kitchen to prepare a two-course menu of their own, after which one of their number will be sent home.
There will also be the show’s traditional mass catering challenge in which the celebrities feed hungry people at busy venues, including Arsenal’s football stadium.
A five-course dinner for Chelsea Pensioners to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday will provide a testing challenge in the semi-finals. The three cooks left will battle it out in the 90-minute final to be crowned Celebrity MasterChef 2016.
