HARRY KANE admits he would trade his Golden Boot to have finished above Arsenal. The prolific Tottenham forward is going to the Euro 2016 finals with a “bad taste in the mouth” after Spurs’ spectacular late-season collapse.

Kane has been named in the England squad after a stunning campaign that saw him earn the Premier League Golden Boot for his impressive tally of 25 goals.

Kane has been tipped by Alan Shearer to take Euro 2016 by storm, but the 22-year-old admits that even with the prospect of a return to the Champions League, it will take time to come to terms with the stunning implosion in the final weeks that allowed the Gunners to finish above Spurs for a 21st consecutive season. “It hurts and it will leave a bad taste in the mouth over the summer,” he said. “It definitely makes it harder Arsenal finishing second because we know how much it means to the fans. When people think they’ve had a bad season and we’ve had a good one yet they still finish above us, it hurts.

“It definitely makes it hard. It would have been nicer to have won the award on a better day.

“It’s something I’m proud of, but if I had the choice between finishing second or having the Golden Boot, I would rather have won at Newcastle.”
