Wild village pool

A YARDIE gangster-style murder shattered the peace of a normally tranquil village yesterday.

The Jamaican-themed “pool party” at a £1million six-bedroom bungalow in the Surrey hills spiralled into violence.

A 34-year-old man was gunned down and two people badly injured in the shooting rampage in the tiny village of Headley, near Leatherhea­d.

Police later revealed they had arrested two people, one on suspicion of murder, another on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Guests had flocked to the ticketed event at the luxury property which has a reputation among local people for hosting “swingers’ parties”.

Neighbours described large numbers of people of Afro-Caribbean appearance arriving at the property on Sunday evening.

The event was organised by the Jamaican rap artist Braintear Spookie and a female companion.

Shortly before 2.30am a volley of shots from a handgun rang out. The victim was killed instantly. A woman was shot in the leg and a another man hit in the shoulder.

The event, licensed by the local Mole Valley Council, had earlier seen hundreds of cars converging on the village.

Furious locals complained to police who told organisers to keep the noise down.

But just two hours later officers were back at the bungalow – which has large indoor and outdoor swimming pools – after other neighbours dialled 999 and reported hearing gunfire.

Guests fled the venue and many had vanished into the night before police arrived. The £20-a-head party had been advertised on websites which said it was taking place at “a posh location in the hills”.
