VICTOR Meldrew is being resurrected 16 years after he was killed off.

Actor Richard Wilson, above, is to reprise his role as Britain’s favourite angry old man for a run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this week.

He will re-create the script from an iconic 1993 episode of One Foot In The Grave called The Trial, which sees Victor stuck in the house on call for jury duty.

Wilson, 80, told Radio Times: “Victor was the opposite of me in many ways. But I suppose there is a sort of Scottish dourness about Victor... and me.

“The novelty of [people in the street shouting] ‘I don’t believe it!’ was rather amusing at first. And then it became rather boring. Then I just thought to myself, ‘Well, you’re never going to escape this, so you might as well accept it.’”
