must be taken regularly to work. Unfortunat­ely morphine, although a strong painkiller, is often not very effective for nerve pain.

Not only that but the body soon gets used to it, meaning the dose has to be increased. This in turn can lead to problems with side effects, especially constipati­on.

I suggest that you consult your GP to discuss altering your pain-relieving medicines, although to avoid withdrawal symptoms you should reduce your dose of morphine slowly and not stop it suddenly.
