Men find women even more confusing than the economy

- By Laura Holland

MEN are more confused by women than anything else, research reveals.

While females are mainly flummoxed by politics and the economy, men say members of the opposite sex are the hardest thing for them to understand.

A survey shows that two fifths of women find politics challenging, while almost a third say they struggle to understand economics.

A quarter of men are left confused by the economy, with 28 per cent finding politics too hard. But 29 per cent of men claim that women leave them scratching their heads more than anything else.

In contrast, only five per cent of women say that men are the most baffling things on Earth.

But both sexes agree, on how confusing technology is, with more than one tenth of men and women admitting computers and smartphones are their trickiest subject. Just four per cent of men and six per cent of women said the environment was the most complicated thing to understand.

Surprisingly, those in the highest earnings bracket – more than £40,000 a year – are more confused by the economy than anything else.

The research, involving 300 people, was carried out by IT specialist PAV i.t. Services.

The group is running a campaign to highlight the need for less jargon. Almost four fifths of those surveyed said there is too much technical speak in everyday conversation, with many believing that people use it just to confuse them.

“We can get so caught up with using technical and confusing jargon that we forget the listener may be struggling to understand exactly what we mean,” said Jason Fry, PAV i.t. Services managing director.

MEN find women bewildering while women feel the same bafflement over politics and economics, says a survey into “clarity”. But surely this summer at least, we all, men and women alike find politics even more confusing than usual.
