Olivia’s fury at biopic

-

OLIVIA Newton-John is livid that her attempts to stop the production of a biopic about her life have failed.

The Grease actress, who has been trying to block the movie for nearly a year, is said to be very upset that the drama is going ahead despite having sent its producers a cease and desist letter last December.

The 67-year-old Aussie pop icon did “everything in her power to shut down production of the unauthorised project”, according to reports.

But producers FilmVic insisted yesterday: “The story of Olivia Newton-John will chart her remarkable path through one of the world’s toughest industries and provide a glimpse into the extraordinary achievements of one of Australia’s most loved icons.” To add to Olivia’s distress, her close friend, fellow Australian singer Delta Goodrem, pictured below right with Olivia, is set to play her. An insider told Australia’s New Idea magazine: “She expects Delta to publicly disassociate herself from the movie before she’ll talk to her again.” Back in 2008 Delta, 31, spoke of her friendship with the Let’s Get Physical hit-maker who – like her – is a cancer survivor. “Olivia’s been an incredible guiding light with me,” she said. “She’s always given me really great advice... She’s beautiful and we have a beautiful friendship.” The production follows the success of other biopics about tragic Aussie INXS rocker Michael Hutchence and singer/songwriter Peter Allen.
