The Spanish Guardia Civil’s traffic division would not confirm whether the driver had been arrested but said an investigation into the tragic collision was continuing.
Ms Jennings died near the spot where British tourist Patricia Crosby, 67, was run over and killed by a teenager in May, hours after arriving in Mallorca.
In March, Graeme McGilvray, 49, from Glasgow, also died nearby after being hit by a lorry as he negotiated a roundabout on his bicycle.
Ms Jennings’ death came fewer than 48 hours after British grandfather Robert Sneddon, 61, was killed by a hitand-run driver late on Sunday night in the Costa Blanca resort of Guardamar del Segura in mainland Spain.
Police are still hunting the driver of a white Land Rover with UK number plates which was left at the scene.
Originally from Scotland, former psychiatric nurse Mr McGilvray spent several years living in Eastbourne in East Sussex before emigrating to Spain.
