CARING KATE’S WORRIES FOR HER CHILDREN
THE Duchess of Cambridge admitted yesterday that she worries like any mother about her children George and Charlotte.
Kate, 34, and husband Prince William were on a surprise visit to a charity for parents of young people suffering from mental health problems when she made the confession.
Praising the charity’s work, Kate told YoungMinds chief executive Sarah Brennan: “I am sure we will face worries – we do face worries, because we’ve got small young children.”
Young George is three and Charlotte is one.
During the visit Prince William also revealed the emotional toll of being an air ambulance pilot.
Before they listened in to calls from anxious parents, he pleaded to be spared hearing stories that were too distressing, explaining: “I’m carrying a lot of things at the moment. I’ll be in floods of tears otherwise.
“I’ve had too many sad families with the air ambulance. I can’t deal with any more stuff.”
But during one call, a mother said she feared her teenage son would commit suicide after being mugged.
William’s frankness about his own emotional state comes just days after he spoke movingly about the pain of losing his mother at the age of 15 when he comforted a 14-year-old boy who had undergone the same anguish.
Prince William, 34, has been a part-time helicopter pilot for East Anglian Air Ambulance since July 2015. He donates his salary to charity.
