Revealed: Theresa May’s motto... Don’t let the b ******* get you down
THERESA May models herself on Queen Elizabeth I and swears by the motto: “Don’t let the b ******* get you down,” she has revealed.
The Prime Minister admits shoes are not only her worst extravagance but also her “greatest love” (alongside her husband Philip) and confesses a fear of snakes: “Like Indiana Jones…”
Of her own appearance, she most dislikes her nose.
The Prime Minister has given a candid insight into her personal life and beliefs answering questions from Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead Magazine.
She said Elizabeth I is the historical figure with whom she most identifies.
Mrs May wrote: “She was a woman who knew her own mind and achieved in a male environment.”
Perfect happiness for Mrs May is walking in the Swiss Alps with her husband and her favourite journey is the one that takes them there.
Admires
She said she admires people who devote themselves to the care of others and deplores her habit of being late “all the time”. In others, she deplores conceit.
Mrs May is depressed by “not getting things done and seeing people’s lives hurt by government bureaucracy”.
The vicar’s daughter said she was a “practising member of the Church of England” and believes in life after death.
Asked what and who is the greatest love of her life she replied: “What? Shoes. Who? My husband Philip.”
Asked what her motto would be she echoes a word famously used by predecessor Sir John Major, saying: “Never let the b ******* get you down.”
And she betrays a jaded view of Westminster in her greatest fear: “Like Indiana Jones, I really don’t like snakes – although that might lead some to ask why I’m in politics!”
