I’m afraid for my life says Mo’s brother
OLYMPIC hero Mo Farah’s estranged brother Ahmed fears he will be killed if he is deported back to his native Somalia.
The 27-year-old, who no longer speaks to his champion runner sibling, claims he is on the brink of being sent back to the war-torn country after his conviction in 2011 for his role in a knife raid.
The former warehouse worker was sentenced to four-and-a-half years but was freed in 2014.
He is now waiting to find out if the Home Office will deport him.
The brothers have lived in the UK since Mo was eight and Ahmed was two. Their relationship broke down as Mo’s career took off.
Dangerous
Ahmed, who lives in west London, said: “I can’t go back to where Mo and I were born, it’s too dangerous. I’m scared I’d end up dead. I am afraid for my life. I’ve no roots in Somalia.
“People would kill me because I’m different.
“They’d see me as an outsider, somebody whose family ran away, and they don’t want to welcome me back.”
Farah said his tattoos also made him an outcast among those who follow sharia law.
He said: “I’ll just get attacked. People are going to detect I’m not from there, the way I talk, my swagger, everything about me.”
The Home Office said it did not comment on individual cases.
