Here’s the new-look James Blond (starring in Dye Another Day)
SPORTING blond hair, tattoos and prison overalls, this is Daniel Craig about as far from his James Bond character as you can imagine.
The current 007 was pictured shooting scenes with actor Adam Driver for car heist comedy film Logan Lucy in Georgia, US.
And as Craig moves on from his Bond days, speculation is hotting up as to who will be the next 007.
Poldark heart-throb Aidan Turner is one of the bookmakers’ favourites to take over as Ian Fleming’s iconic spy, with Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, Jack Huston and Idris Elba among other contenders.
And yesterday Australian Chris Hemsworth, known for his performance as Thor in Marvel’s comic book films, was thrown into the mix by Bond stunt double Bobby Hanton. Craig signalled that he may not make any more Bond films last October, as Spectre hit the big screen, when he was asked if he could see himself starring in another 007 film.
Perfect
He replied: “Now? I’d rather slash my wrists. No. Not at the moment. Not at all.”
He added that this would be his view “for a year or two”.
Mr Hanton said Thor star Hemsworth would be perfect for the role, saying: “Chris is in a league of his own. He would be perfect. I am not being biased in any way.
“He has obviously got the physical shape. Tom [Hiddleston] is also training and hard at it in his own gym but Chris is in a league of his own.”
Hemsworth previously admitted that he would “jump at” the chance to play Bond, saying: “I don’t know who wouldn’t.”
If Hemsworth was cast, he would become the second Australian to take on the Licence To Kill after George Lazenby starred in Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1969.
Logan Lucy, the story of two brothers who attempt a heist during a motor sport race in North Carolina, is set for release in October next year.
Channing Tatum also stars and it is directed by Steven Soderbergh.
Craig first appeared as Bond in Casino Royale in 2006 before starring in Quantum Of Solace in 2008, Skyfall in 2012 and Spectre last year.
