Spot the children’s presents

- By Richard Palmer

PRINCE George and Princess Charlotte have been inundated with gifts during the first couple of days of the royal tour of Canada.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge returned to Government House in Victoria following engagements with arms full of presents for their children.

Well-wishers

One caused a spot of amusement… a life-size stuffed Dalmatian toy. Prince William told well-wishers that the gifts would keep the children occupied for hours while they were at the official residence of the Queen and Judith Guichon, her Lieutenant Governor in Victoria, the capital of British Columbia.

But Prince George missed out on one thing he would have loved when his parents visited the Kitsilano coast guard station.

Prince William admired equipment displayed by Vancouver Fire and Rescue and North Shore Rescue, including a state-of-the-art rescue truck with equipment for operating in confined spaces. “My son would be obsessed with that,” he said.

William and Kate did not go away empty handed. The Duchess was given two tiny orange life jackets for Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

She was also handed piles of books for the children. They included A Hero Lives In My Family, a story for the children of first responders to help them understand their parents’ stressful jobs.
