Cheryl baby rumours swell as mum goes maternity shopping
SPECULATION that pop star Cheryl is pregnant by One Direction’s Liam Payne gained strength yesterday when her mother was spotted buying maternity items.
Joan Callaghan, 57, was snapped paying for two larger white pillows, specially designed for mothers-to-be, from Mothercare.
The pillows, priced £47.99, promise a “comfortable night’s sleep by supporting your back, knees and growing bump and can be used as a feeding support once baby is born”.
An onlooker in the queue in Newcastle upon Tyne said: “She had a massive pregnancy pillow which helps make your bump more comfortable when you’re trying to sleep.
“She was asking for advice about another kind she wanted – more of a wedge you put under your bump when it’s quite big to help take the weight.
“The shop assistant went away and came back with what she had asked for.” Cheryl, 33, and Liam, 23, have been dating since February and Cheryl has been at the centre of speculation that she wants a baby.
Last week the former Girls Aloud singer’s public relations team added to the rumours when they tweeted the star posing for a selfie.
The picture was unusually cropped to obscure a view of her stomach.
Wearing a grey sweater, Cheryl held her phone aloft for the picture in a large auditorium where she was working on a mystery project.
The singer signed a solo deal with Capitol Records in the summer.
Twitter also went into a frenzy when Liam changed his Twitter biography to “the happiest man in the world”.
Twitter users saw that as a hint that Cheryl was pregnant.
One fan tweeted: “Honestly, why did Liam suddenly change his bio and is now saying he is ‘the luckiest man’? Is Cheryl pregnant or something?”
