LEYTON ORIENT have sacked manager Andy Hessenthaler.

The former Gillingham boss becomes the first managerial departure in the Football League this term following a three-match winless streak that left Orient 14th in League Two with three wins from nine games.

The 51-yearold, who signed a one-year deal during the summer, took over from player-manager Kevin Nolan for the final five games of the 2015-16 campaign.

Despite a positive start to the season, which saw Orient climb as high as fourth earlier in the month, chairman Francesco Becchetti has made Hessenthaler his seventh managerial casualty in two years at the Matchroom Stadium following successive defeats by Yeovil and Notts County. The club said in a statement: “We can confirm that Andy Hessenthaler has been relieved of his role as first-team manager.

“We would like to thank Andy for his service since arriving in July 2015 and wish him well. Assistant manager Andy Edwards will be assuming his duties on an interim basis and will take charge for the League Two home game with Plymouth Argyle.” FORMER England and Aston Villa striker Jackie Sewell has died at the age of 89.

He joined Sheffield Wednesday in 1951 for a then record fee of £34,500 and won six caps, scoring in England’s infamous 6-3 defeat by Hungary. Sewell, right, scored 40 goals in 145 games for Villa from 1955-59, winning the FA Cup in 1957. He also played for Notts County and Hull. TOBY Alderweireld believes Tottenham’s players will have no fear in Moscow tonight despite fans being told to keep their colours under wraps in the city amid concerns about Russian hooliganism.

The Foreign Office have advised the club to tell fans to keep flags and replica shirts hidden until they are safely inside the segregated confines of the newly opened Arena CSKA, after Russian hooligans targeted England supporters during the European Championship in France.

The club say they expect only 250 supporters to travel to watch their first Champions League away game for five years – although a sizeable number of local supporters of the north London club were (probable) AKINFEEV; FERNANDES, IGNASHEVICH, V BEREZUTSKIY, SHCHENNIKOV; WERNBLOOM, GOLOVIN; TOSIC, EREMENKO, IONOV; TRAORE (probable) LLORIS; WALKER, ALDERWEIRELD, VERTONGHEN, DAVIES; WANYAMA, CARROLL; LAMELA, ALLI, ERIKSEN; JANSSEN REF: A Lahoz (Spain). It was a familiar trip for three players who form the backbone of this Spurs side. Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen were all playing for Ajax when they travelled to Moscow to face CSKA’s neighbours Spartak six seasons ago.

The memories from that day were not happy ones, though, as Ajax slumped to a 3-0 defeat in the Europa League last-16 clash.

“It’s difficult for me to talk about the fan advice but in Russia, it’s always like this [hostile],” said Alderweireld. “Especially Champions League games – when other teams from Europe are coming as well as English teams. We only have to focus on our game on greet the
