Tiers before bedtime as bride’s dad drops her ‘wedding cake’ in prank
THIS is the hilarious moment Britain's cruellest father of the bride tricked his daughter by dropping her wedding cake – which is actually a fake.
Practical joker Andy Todd was filmed giving his wedding speech, during which he picked up the three-tiered cake to thank its maker.
But guests screamed in horror as it went tumbling to the floor.
Newlyweds Dina, 23, and Johnny Smart, 24, covered their faces with their hands and looked shocked following “slip”.
Only then did Andy reveal that he had set the whole thing up as an elaborate prank.
In the video, he is heard saying as he picks up the cake: “I'd just like to say, has anyone looked at this cake? Because it is absolutely fantastic.”
Worried Dina can be heard in the background, pleading: “Don't lift it, Dad.” Andy then fumbles the It crashes to the floor as bride and groom watch in horror, right unfortunate the cake and it falls off the table to the floor.
But he is quickly seen reassuring the stunned guests by saying: “Don't worry, it's all right, it's OK – because the real one is at the back there!”
Afterwards Andy, 47, a caterer from Dawlish, Devon, said: “I'd been planning it for six months and I didn't even tell my wife.
“On the way to the church I was having second thoughts, because it could have gone one way or the other. My wife had warned me not to do anything to wind Dina up. To start with, Dina was really shocked but that soon turned to relief.
“I didn't want to make it last too long. I didn't want her to cry and have mascara running down her face.
“So I made sure it only lasted a few seconds before I pointed out the real cake at the back.”
Luckily, Andy's joke had wedding guests rocking with laughter at St Mary's Hall in Dawlish, Devon, on Saturday.
