Scaring off house spiders with conkers isn’t bonkers

CAROLE Ann Rice asked if conkers were a deterrent to spiders (Happy Mondays, September 26).

Yes it does work. I put a couple of conkers in each corner of the room (fresh ones each year) and since doing it have never suffered with spiders inside.

Conkers apparently give off an odour which spiders don’t like.
