Theresa May is the voice of ordinary British voters

-

PRESIDENT of the European Council Donald Tusk has speculated that the referendum result could be reversed. Other EU leaders are also thought to believe that Brexit could still be blocked. This refusal to accept reality and recognise that we will definitely be leaving speaks volumes about their disdain for democracy.

After years of rank incompetence from those in charge it comes as little surprise that their handling of Brexit leaves so much to be desired. Why would any nation choose to be part of a bloc led by people who are so arrogant, out of touch and inept?

And yet still – as Stephen Pollard explains on this page – there are plenty of MPs in our own Parliament also battling to block Brexit. Even with the largest-ever popular mandate behind it the fight to secure Britain’s exit from the EU is not over. In this context how reassuring it is to see Theresa May acting on behalf of the more than 17 million people who voted Leave.

With much of the establishment in this country and in Brussels still under the illusion they can stop Brexit, a leader who is unafraid to slap down her critics and stand up for the British people is just what we need.
