Dyche tells team to mind the gap
BURNLEY manager Sean Dyche says he has spoken to his side about the mental aspect of being in the Premier League.
Dyche admitted last Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Southampton was one of the Clarets’ worst displays but pointed to other big performances, including a 2-0 win over Liverpool in August, as proof they can turn around their recent slide.
“We’ve spoken about the mental aspect because that’s sometimes as important as the tactics – knowing how to handle yourself and play on these big occasions,” said Dyche.
“We’ve had three games on Sky and we’ve done very well – we won at Watford and deserved something against Arsenal but it was taken out of our hands.
“Southampton was the first time we’ve come away from our performance level, and when you’re a team still learning about the Premier League it’s likely you’re going to have the odd bump in the road. We’ve got to make sure that it is just a bump in the road.”
