Poch a friend with a big Art
MAURICIO Pochettino will today renew one of the most unlikely friendships in football when he comes face to face with Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc, below.
Last season, the Tottenham manager’s side put eight goals past the Poland international goalkeeper – but Pochettino revealed it was all smiles after the games.
“We have a very good relationship and after the games we hugged and we spoke, but not about football,” he said. “Always the talk is about human relationships. He is very emotional and he always found love and warmth for me.” Three years ago, Pochettino was in charge at Southampton and Boruc was the keeper he inherited. When the Saints played Arsenal Boruc tried three times to dribble round Olivier Giroud, lost possession and conceded the first goal in a 2-0 defeat. But Pochettino said of Boruc: “The person who was angriest at the mistakes was him.”
