WE Want a rEd, WhitE and bluE brExit says May

-

THE Prime Minister yesterday turned up the rhetoric in the row over Britain’s future outside the EU by calling for a “red, white and blue” Brexit.

Mrs May deployed the patriotic language to insist that the UK can forge its own bespoke deal with Brussels.

Her call came as a Union flag hung behind her on the deck of the Royal Navy’s largest warship, HMS Ocean, during her two-day visit to Bahrain.

Mrs May told reporters travelling with her that winning a good deal was what mattered rather than labels.

“These terms that have been identified – hard Brexit, soft Brexit, black Brexit, white Brexit, grey Brexit.

“Actually, I think what we should be looking for is a red, white and blue Brexit,” she said. “That is the Mrs May on HMS Ocean yesterday right deal for the United Kingdom. What is going to be the relationship for the UK with the European Union once we have left the European Union? That’s what we are about,” she added.

“When people voted on June 23 they voted for us to take control of our borders, they voted for us take control of our laws and take control of our money, and how we spend our money.

“We want to get the best possible deal in trade.”

To those calling for the UK to remain fully signed up to EU single market, including free movement, Mrs May said: “We also want to get the best possible trade deal for trading with, and operating within, a single European market.

“But I’m ambitious as to what we can achieve in that trade deal.

“I’m ambitious for that trade deal because I think it’s important for Europe as well as being important for the UK.”

In a speech to the crew on board HMS Ocean yesterday, she thanked all British forces personnel and wished them a “peaceful Christmas”.
