have we fallen out of love with biscuits?

-

PEOPLE don’t have the same taste for biscuits and chocolates these days because they have learned to eat a healthier diet (“Crumbs! Biscuit eating drops by a million a week”, December 6).

As my mother used to say, “A moment of the lips is a lifetime on the hips,” and people would rather do without in order to stay fit.

There is no coincidence that the fall in sales has been accompanied by a rise in sales of healthy snacks.

Also, our habits have changed. With fewer people sitting down to a nice cup of tea, there is less chance to crack open the biccies. Samantha Jenkinson, Huddersfield, W Yorks

IF you make people feel guilty every time something fattening passes their lips then don’t be surprised if sales go down.

But that doesn’t mean people don’t still love a good, old biscuit.

I don’t eat as many as I used to but that’s because I save them up as treats and consequently buy the more expensive varieties.

I’ll never go down the route of buying healthier snacks.

To me, a biscuit is supposed to be a treat and a chance to indulge yourself. What is the point if you can’t enjoy a little bit of what you fancy. It does you good.
