really welcome. Between Stokesy, Colly, Woody – they’ve been three of the main drivers in helping me settle down and pave way for life in the UK. At the moment, I’m feeling very comfortable and very English, despite my accent.

“I bought a nice little two-bed flat in Chester-le-Street a couple of years ago. I’ve got a local pub as well. That made me feel part of the furniture. I’m blessed I’ve been welcomed with open arms.”

It was Jennings senior who persuaded his son to seek a life in England. “I sat down with my dad and felt it would be my best opportunity to live my dream in the UK and I’m very glad as I sit here now to have made that hard decision,” he said.

Jennings aside, England will hopefully welcome Stuart Broad back into their side in Mumbai.

Broad missed the third Test defeat in Mohali with the tendon injury he suffered in his right foot in the previous Test in Visakhapatnam. He bowled during practice at the Wankhede Stadium yesterday without any apparent problems and will come back into the XI if gets though a final workout today.

England are expected to switch to four seamers for this must-win match, with Broad alongside James Anderson, Chris Woakes and Stokes. That will see Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid as the only spinners in the side, a break from the previous three Tests of the series.

Moeen has been short of runs since a century in the first Test and went wicketless in Mohali. But the all-rounder, who was representing a charity initiative by the British Asian Foundation in Mumbai, said: “Pressure to me is people who can’t afford food. This is just a game of cricket. I just give it my best shot.”
