Sophie and golden girl Sam look so glam at glittering hockey ball

- By Laura Holland

SOPHIE Wessex added a touch of Royal chic as she supported Britain’s Olympic gold medallists at the glittering Golden Hockey Ball last night. She was joined by Olympian Sam Quek who arrived looking glamorous after being cut off from the outside world during her time on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! The event at the Tower of London was held to honour the women’s hockey team. They netted a gold at Rio and put down their hockey sticks to celebrate their success last night at the Great Britain Golden Hockey Ball.

The Countess of Wessex, wife of Prince Edward and mother of two, attended the event as the patron of England Hockey.

She has been their Royal patron since 2007 and has said that she “always enjoyed” playing the sport.

The glittering affair was presented by sports television and radio personality Colin Murray.

Also among those on the guest list were hockey stars Alex Danson and George Pinner, along with musician Gareth Malone of BBC Two’s The Choir and rowing Olympian Katherine Grainger.

Rower Matthew Pinsent and rugby star Neil Back also toasted the hockey Olympians.

Hockey Futures is a national charity set up by England Hockey to transform the lives of children through the power of hockey. All proceeds from an auction at the ball went to Hockey Futures.

Well-known auctioneer and presenter Jonny Gould hosted the live auction.
