‘Lost’ jet search is called off
THE search for missing Malaysian aircraft MH370 was abandoned yesterday, almost three years after the Boeing 777 vanished.
Malaysia, China and Australia called off the hunt after trawling 46,000 square miles of the Indian ocean.
More than £100million has been spent investigating the mystery of how the plane vanished with 239 passengers and crew aboard on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
Satellite technology later established that the plane had turned back towards Malaysia and continued flying for some hours over the Indian ocean.
Wreckage believed to be from the plane has washed up on the east coast of Africa.
Last month Australia admitted that its search west of Perth might have been conducted in the wrong area.
