Flimsy claims are another loophole that has to close
ONCE again British generosity is being taken advantage of regarding the claims of gay migrants (“Suspicions raised at rocketing rate of ‘gay’ refugees”, January 17).
This should be taken for what it really is, another loophole to claim benefits and health care based on no evidence whatsoever, totally unprovable claims regarding their alleged sexuality and alleged claims of punishment for a non-existing crime.
These claimants will probably be unemployed and probably unemployable, as immigrants and not because of their alleged sexuality. The British gay community has long been accepted as legal members of our society and are not criminalised for their private lives.
Immigrants should not be accepted in this country on flimsy claims of persecution in their own country.
This is just another loophole which urgently needs to be closed as soon as possible in our attempts to get a grip of out-of-control immigration. Tony Holmes, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Notts
