Lovely to get an insight into the off-duty Queen

WE know very little of what the Queen is really like as a person, away from the public eye, when she is “off duty”.

So it was lovely to get a glimpse of the real person and to read that she is kindly taking care of two dogs belonging to her old friend (“Her Majesty is very good friend indeed”, January 17). It’s nice to know that beneath the formal exterior there is a soft, caring lady who loves nothing more than taking dogs for a walk. Lynne English, Wickford, Essex
