Natural gel eased my crippling pain
New treatment for stomach disorders has given West Country sculptor her life back, says GeorGe Nichols
HELEN Moore is an artist and sculptor who loves the great outdoors, capturing the wonders of the equine world from her home in beautiful Dorset. She’s master of the Equorum Model Horse Stud, creating unique latex model horses and ponies.
Yet Helen’s self-built career was in danger of falling apart, all because of a stomach disorder.
Helen, 45, all but turned her back on the countryside as her problems worsened. “I had got to a stage where I didn’t want to go out due to the anxiety of suffering an attack of digestive discomfort,” she says. “I never felt right and always felt tired and worried.”
Helen’s suffering started as a youngster. “Since childhood my digestive system has played up but it was in my 20s that I started to link much of my problem to periods of anxiety,” she says. “Worst of all was a huge feeling of lethargy that accompanied the symptoms – some days I was so tired that I felt like I had no energy whatsoever.
“When my father passed away two years ago, my digestive system seemed to rebel and the symptoms flared up. My doctor prescribed various things but I don’t like taking medication because I am always worried about the side effects and even though I was in such pain, I just couldn’t face taking the pills.”
However, Helen discovered a different, lasting solution. “I went onto the internet to see if there was something natural I could take,” she says. “Silicolgel came up randomly, and I read all about it. It didn’t seem to have any side effects and so I decided to give it a try.
“After taking it three times in two days, I could move again. On the third day, I felt that I could get on with life. I just kept feeling better and better.
