Obesity, immigration and bad management hurt NHS
PROFESSOR Martin McKee and his colleagues have only one explanation for the crippled NHS, government austerity and cuts (“NHS cuts blamed for 30,000 deaths a year”, February 17).
The three main reasons for the NHS’s problems are the obesity explosion, immigration and bad management.
Drugs and free care for foreigners are also factors but minor by comparison.
GP surgeries are full of obese patients with bad feet, ankles, knees, hips and backs, expecting the NHS to cure the results of their appalling lifestyles and eating habits. David Hutton, Crewe, Cheshire
