Size matters when you’re buying brand new clothes
HAVING accompanied my wife in an unsuccessful attempt to buy a coat last week (“Clothes sizes are not fit for purpose, say women”, February 18) I can vouch for this being true.
In five separate stores the sizes varied wildly. In one case one coat that still did not fit was, if the label was to be believed, four sizes larger than the one she was wearing.
This is not confined to the ladies. When I recently sent for four shirts by mail order, all of the same size, two were a full four inches smaller than the other two and had to be returned.
