OAP-friendly Whiteley has the secret to happiness

I HAD no idea that there was a village in Surrey where only pensioners could live and that 11 of those 500 are centenarians (“Long live Whiteley!”, February 20).

It would appear that most of the residents are not wealthy but they all seem very happy with a lot of the people saying the reason for this is that they live among friends and look out for each other.

This proves that loneliness is one of the most awful things we may have to face as we grow older and explains why the villagers in Whiteley live on average five years longer than the rest of us.
