There’s a new and natural solution to easing stomach disorders, says GeorGe Nichols

PHOTOGRAPHER David Holbrook roves the age-old countryside of the West Midlands. He is constantly on the move, taking pictures of everything from motorsports to weddings, children’s parties to the architecture that is redefining the area around Wolverhampton where he is based. He’s always on the go and yet despite loving his work, was feeling truly out of focus, having reached the point where even a cup of camomile tea couldn’t help. “I’d tried all sorts of natural teas, from camomile to peppermint, all sorts of potions and pills from ginger to charcoal,” he says, but none of that helped the stomach problems that had plagued him for most of his adult life. “I have struggled with stomach issues for as long as I can remember,” he says. “I have tried most over-the-counter remedies as well but while they’ve brought some relief it never felt as though I had control over my condition.” David is far from alone – gastrointestinal disorders account for 25 per cent of all visits to GP surgeries. Yet he finally found the answer with silicolgel, a thoroughly modern solution albeit one with its origins in 1950s research. It’s a natural product that contains silicic acid, a compound of oxygen and the mineral substance silicon – more than 60 years ago scientists discovered that silicic acid was able to relieve a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions.

Says David: “As I was once more searching the internet for a new remedy, I came across a forum where people were talking about silicolgel. They were saying good things about it so, ever the optimist, I got my order in and waited patiently for my parcel. It arrived and I eagerly opened the bottle poured the liquid gel on to my spoon, then gulped it down. “Within that first day, I started to feel better but I ignored the initial success, as maybe it was just me having a good day. However, this good feeling continued over the coming days and continues months later.

“I feel now as if I at last have control over my symptoms. I feel almost normal and this has had a great impact on my overall mood, I don’t feel lethargic or uncomfortable as I did, and in turn I feel happier – it’s been a revelation.”

Silicic acid gel typically brings relief from stomach problems, leaving sufferers feeling in control of their life again, being able to exercise, and make simple outings and to family events that would once have been impossible.

David is now able to photograph all the events he needs to without the fear of flare-ups – he’s a real picture of health. INFORMATION: silicolgel is available from Boots, Superdrug, Holland & Barrett and other health food stores, or direct from silicol.co.uk
