IT’S ALL HAPPENING AT ONCE FOR GARY

-

GARY BARLOW had no idea just how time-consuming launching a new musical, a new television programme and working on a Take That album at the same time would actually be.

The 46-yearold co-wrote musical The Girls, is currently writing some more Take That material as well as sitting on the panel of his brainchild BBC One talent show, Let It Shine, and it sounds like the workload is taking its toll.

“It’s all happening at once! I didn’t realise it was all scheduled for the same time… it’s a lot and I’m nervous. Most new West End musicals fail and I give 100 per cent to everything,” he told Day & Night at The Girls gala evening at the Phoenix Theatre in central London. While Gary, who admitted the main inspiration behind his musical version of hit 2003 film Calendar Girls was his mum Marge, because she’s such a huge fan of the film, has denied Take That bandmate Mark Owen’s assertion that he is a workaholic. “It has been hard work, yes,” he adds. “I wrote 90 songs to get the 13 for this show but I never say what I do is work – it never feels like that.”
