SHOULD GIRLS HAVE TO WEAR SKIRTS TO SCHOOL?

-

Yes

I SUPPORT the decision to make girls wear skirts to school (“Sexism row as school bans girls from wearing trousers”, February 21).

This is not about sexism or persecution but about making girls conform to the rules.

We all know that girls are the world’s worst at pushing boundaries and altering what they wear to look trendy.

A blanket ban on anything other than skirts is the only way to prevent them wearing skin-tight leggings and jeans. Skirts should be of a set length too to stop them being rolled up into a miniskirt. Jennifer Robson, Stevenage, Herts

No

I THINK Connah’s Quay High School is moving along the right lines but has gone too far in its decision banning trousers for girls.

If boys can wear tailored trousers, why can’t girls?

Where the school is totally correct is to ban skin-tight leggings and trousers that are totally unsuitable for school wear and jeans, which should not even be an option.

Smart, tailored trousers would seem to me to be fine but the school would have to be very strict in ensuring that the rules are complied with. Geoff Manning, Lower Kingswood, Surrey
