Fears on women’s pensions

-

MORE than 100,000 workers are not being automatically enrolled in a pension because they are juggling multiple jobs.

Women in particular are likely to be missing out, research reveals.

Citizens Advice found that across Britain, nearly 106,000 working people are not being auto-enrolled because their earnings come from different sources – 72,000 of those were women.

Gillian Guy, of Citizens Advice, said: “Too many people are shut out of a workplace pension despite earning enough to qualify. The Government needs to help people get on track with pension savings.”

A review of automatic enrolment in pensions is underway which will look at the issue of people with multiple jobs who do not qualify for automatic enrolment in any single workplace.

It will also consider how self-employed people can be helped to save for old age.
