Baa...king Barry, the rescue lamb who thinks he’s a dog

- By Geoff Maynard

IT’S a dog’s life for Barry... and he is as happy as Larry.

The lamb acts more like a canine after following the example of a couple’s pets.

Rare sheep breeder Emma Childs took Barry into her home last month after his mother rejected him as a new-born.

The Swiss Valais Blacknose lamb is now four weeks old and has learnt to copy Emma and husband Scott’s six rescue dogs.

Emma, 52, of Fordingbridge, Hampshire, said: “Barry is an incredible character. “He’s just like a dog. “When he was first born, I was bottle-feeding him round the clock every three hours, through the night as well. He was small and weak.

“From day one he has been around the dogs so he’s completely at home with them. He’s very loving and he will jump up on the sofa and sit on my lap.

“He knows his name, follows me everywhere like a dog and comes when I call him.”

Although he still trots into the house for bottles of milk, Barry has been accepted by the other lambs and Emma has found a home for him once he is fully weaned. She said: “I’d love to keep him in the house but it’s not practical.” quite
