Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe has a string of Hollywood blockbusters to his name, including Gladiator, American Gangster and Les Misérables but, despite his appearance in Gabriele Muccino’s drama, it failed to hit the heights expected at the box office.

The tale focuses on a writer who is still recovering from the death of his wife and struggling to retain custody of his daughter as he develops a serious illness.

Years later, his only child is now an adult and faces up to the personal issues brought about by her chaotic childhood as she begins a new relationship.
