Tom: Elvis might be all shook up at my Priscilla nights out

- By David Pilditch

SIR Tom Jones has admitted that Elvis Presley might have a suspicious mind about him dining out with his ex-wife Priscilla.

The Voice TV coach – famed for hits including It’s Not Unusual and Delilah – has been linked with the former wife of the King after they were seen dining together at a Hollywood restaurant in January.

Sir Tom, 76, said: “I really don’t know how Elvis would feel about us having dinner together. He probably wouldn’t be too sure.

“But Elvis was a great man. It’s nice to know that Priscilla and I are still in touch after all this time.

“She’s been a friend of mine since 1968, when I first met her with Elvis.

“We were friends and Elvis passed away, of course. But you know, we’ve kept in touch. We’ve been in each other’s lives for years and she is one of a bunch of people that I know in Los Angeles and we do hang out.”

The Welsh legend became close friends with Elvis after they met in the 1960s.

Sir Tom once said proudly: “When he watched me in 1968 in Vegas he told me I was the closest thing to him. I was the only person from Britain he could relate to.”

Elvis and Priscilla’s six-year marriage ended in divorce in 1973, four years before his death in 1977 aged just 42.

Sir Tom was left devastated when his wife of 59 years, childhood sweetheart Linda, died of cancer last April. Friends have told how Priscilla had been comforting Sir Tom following Linda’s death and have said that their relationship is in the early stages.

Yesterday Sir Tom played down his relationship with Naked Gun star Priscilla, 71, saying they had been “friends for years”.

He said: “I’ve had dinner with her many times with a bunch of people – we’ve been friends since the ’60s.”

Sir Tom also told how he was thrilled to be back on The Voice after being cruelly dumped without warning by the BBC in 2015.

He added that he is keeping in good health and hopes the show will be back for a new series.

He said: “I have had no physical scares, thank God.

“Everything is still as it should be and I am lucky in that respect.”
