Both male and female employees will have a spring in their step next day – and may even enjoy better promotion prospects, say researchers.
Making love releases chemicals associated with reward and social bonding, leading to more positive moods and greater job satisfaction.
Healthy
The findings emerged from a study of 159 married workers by researchers at America’s Oregon State University.
Associate professor Keith Leavitt said: “We joke about people having a ‘spring in their step’ but it is actually real. A healthy sex life will help employees be happy and engaged, which benefits them and the organisations they work for.”
Prof Leavitt hailed this positive after-effect of sex – which lingers for 24 hours and is equally strong for both men and women – as “a potential career advantage”.
