A Star memorial

-

STAR WARS fans will descend en masse after the public memorial service in honour of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds was confirmed for next weekend. Carrie, who died at 60, and her actress mother passed away within days of one another last December and were laid to rest in a private funeral service. Fans will now be able to pay their last respects on March 25. The service will be held at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, California, where the pair are buried, and will include a musical tribute from Carrie’s close friend, British singer James Blunt. A new song that he has written honouring his late pal will apparently be played while a photo montage is broadcast in the background. Also planned for the service is a tribute from the Debbie Reynolds Dance School, as well as a number of other musical performances.

Costumes and memorabilia from the Singin’ In The Rain star, who was 84 when she died, and her famous daughter’s film sets will also be on display.

Carrie’s actress daughter Billie Lourd, 24, will be in attendance but won’t address the audience as “it’s too emotional”.

The guest of honour will be Carrie’s dog Gary.

Carrie’s brother Todd Fisher, 59, announced recently to fans: “We will be celebrating their lives with friends, family members and the people who loved them, you… There are no tickets, it is first come, first seated.”
