Cheers all round as Duchess sips a pint after ‘dad dancing’ William party row

- By Richard Palmer

IT was back to work with a pint for Prince William yesterday – but this time he took his wife Kate along too.

On their first official engagement since William was filmed “dad dancing” and chatting to two glamorous women during a lads-only ski trip to the Swiss resort of Verbier last weekend, the body language between the second in line to the throne and his wife suggested all was well.

The Duchess of Cambridge sipped on a pint of Guinness to traditionally mark St Patrick’s Day. And she joined her husband, the Duke of Cambridge, in a toast after a parade by the Irish Guards.

Earlier Kate presented Domhnall, the regiment’s Irish wolfhound mascot, with a sprig of shamrock during a parade by 450 members of the regiment’s 1st Battalion at Cavalry Barracks in Hounslow, west London.

Kate, looking stylish in a dark green coat by Catherine Walker, decorated with her Irish Guards brooch, was all smiles as she stood beside William in his regimental frock coat, apparently unconcerned about his recent embarrassing ski trip. She presented the ceremonial sprigs to officers and warrant officers who issued them among the ranks. Kate, 35, looked happy as the pair sipped their Guinness and were given a raucous toast by the soldiers.

Kate turned towards William and gave him a warm smile. Four-year-old Domhnall prepared for his moment in the spotlight with a breakfast of three boneless chicken thighs. He was wrapped up in a scarlet coat.

His handler, drummer Adrian Cathcart, 29, from Ballymena, Northern Ireland, said: “He’s taking it in his stride. If a human could live his life it would be quite decent.”
