Sir Bruce: Isn’t he doing well

- By James Robinson

SIR Bruce Forsyth is recovering well and laughing again after his recent health scare, according to his friend Jimmy Tarbuck.

The legendary presenter, 89, spent five days in an intensive care unit earlier this month after being struck down with a severe chest infection.

But comedian Tarbuck visited the former Strictly Come Dancing host at his Surrey home recently and has since reassured fans that Brucie is on the mend.

He said: “It was just good to see him. Bruce’s wife Wilnelia made some sandwiches and a nice pot of tea and we just reminisced and blethered and laughed. He’s getting there.” Sir Bruce has been plagued with health problems in recent years.

He suffered a fall in 2015 and was rushed to hospital with cuts and minor concussion. After tests he had surgery on two lifethreatening aneurysms.

The surgery reportedly left Sir Bruce too frail to attend the funeral of fellow entertainer and longterm friend Ronnie Corbett last April.

In November last year, Wilnelia admitted her husband was having trouble Laughs...Brucie moving. But Tarbuck, 77, who has been friends with the presenter for more than 50 years, was keen to point out that Sir Bruce’s issues aren’t unusual for a man of his age. He added: “He had a fall, and a fall doesn’t do you any good at any age. “But he’s at an age where it took a bit out of him.” Tarbuck’s comments come just days after Sir Bruce’s daughter Julie told ITV’s This Morning that her father was on the mend, adding: “I am very proud of him.”
