DELE ALLI could miss half of Tottenham’s Champions League group campaign next season if they qualify for the competition. Alli, right, was yesterday banned for three European matches after his red card against Ghent in the Europa League in February.
Alli also missed the final three games of last season’s Premier League after punching West Brom’s Claudio Yacob. had an agreement with the player.
“We had been wrongly advised that he had a clause, with a minimal clause, but we had an agreement with the player. You can ask him.
“I’m convinced he wanted to join us and then they sold him. They kept him one more year, improved his contract and promised to sell him the year later to a club abroad.”
Former Gunners midfielder Robert Pires has said the club must secure Wenger’s future at the Emirates before worrying about new deals for contract rebels Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
As well as Wenger’s future being up in the air, it remains unclear whether either Sanchez or Ozil will re-sign. Pires said: “I hope for him Sanchez and Ozil sign new contracts.
“But most important is to see Arsene extend his contract. He is very important for Arsenal for now and for next season.” Arsenal have been fined £4,300 by UEFA as punishment for fans running on to the pitch during the Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich earlier this month.
