Gary confirms Star Wars role
GARY BARLOW has confirmed he does indeed have a role in the new Star Wars film.
Last year there were reports that the Take That singer filmed a cameo for the next highly anticipated sci-fi sequel Star Wars: The Last Jedi when it was assumed he’d be appearing as one of the Stormtroopers. But he has now revealed he won’t be starring as one of the soldiers of the Galactic Empire, where he would of course have been able to keep his identity a mystery, but he is definitely in the film nonetheless.
“I’m not a Stormtrooper,” insists the 46-year-old. “I am in it. Thank you,” adding that he may now have scuppered his chances by revealing too much: “Ladies and gentlemen keep it down, Now I’ve said that, I’ll probably be out. I think the Star Wars people are so strict about what information is out there. I’ve probably done myself out of a role.”
Filming for the next instalment is taking place at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire and is the followup to box-office smash The Force Awakens, which saw Harrison Ford, 74, return as Han Solo, alongside Brits John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, who played lead characters Finn and Rey, and Simon Pegg, who played Unkar Plutt. Star Wars VIII will be released in UK cinemas on December 15.
